What you need to get started
Moving crypto from one network to another is easy to do. For StarkNet you only need 3 things:
- A wallet, like MetaMask on a network like Ethereum (Layer 1), Polygon, zkSync or Arbitrum, that you will use to send crypto from
- An Argent X wallet for StarkNet
- Some ETH or other ERC20 token, like DAI that you want to send to StarkNet
Once you have that, it’s ready to bridge!
Time to bridge to StarkNet
There are two options built into Argent X that allow you to bridge to StarkNet: Orbiter Finance and StarkGate. They both allow you to transfer crypto from one network to StarkNet quickly, securely, and easily.
Just follow these steps:
- Open Argent X, tap “Add Funds”, then choose “Bridge from Ethereum and other chains”
- Choose “Orbiter Finance” or “StarkGate”
- Connect your Ethereum wallet, like Metamask, and your Argent X account (You need to connect both so you can send funds from your Ethereum wallet to StarkNet)
- Enter the amount you want to send to StarkNet and confirm the transaction a. Your transaction fee will vary based on the network you're bridging funds from. For example, Ethereum is more expensive than zkSync
- Your funds will arrive in your Argent X account

Why do I need Argent X and Metamask?
StarkNet is different from other blockchains as it supports account abstraction. This means every wallet is a smart contract with its own logic. For example, if you enter a MetaMask seed phrase into an Argent X wallet, you will get a different address, as StarkNet addresses come in a different format. This is why you can’t use your MetaMask wallet for StarkNet and why you need Argent X.
