Quick summary

GM - here's our pick of crypto's most important news and content from the past 2 weeks. So much has happened, so it's a little longer than usual. Let us know what you think!

👟 Just did it

Two of the world's most iconic brands - Nike and Adidas - dove into the metaverse this month. Nike bought RTFTK, creators of virtual wearables, while Adidas has collaborated with gmoney, Bored Ape Yacht Club and Punks Comic to launch their NFT.

Nike bought RTFKT

Shopify has also been getting more involved with NFTs. Their founder, Tobi Lütke, bought their ENS this week, which was then followed by an announcement that you can now mint and sell your own branded NFTs with Shopify and Shopify Payments.

While Nike, Adidas and Shopify are fully embracing crypto culture, it's clear some traditional companies are simply ngmi.

Facebook - sorry, Meta, Pepsi and Budweiser poorly attempting to use crypto terminology

📅 2021 year in review

If you want a comprehensive look at what happened in crypto over the past year (spoiler: it's an unimaginable amount), Messari's Crypto Theses for 2022 and The Block's 2022 Digital Asset Outlook have you covered.

You can also watch Ryan Selkis, CEO of Messari, on Bankless discussing his top 10 predictions for 2022!

🏛️ DeFi Congressional hearing

This week, Senator Elizabeth Warren criticized stablecoins for propping up DeFi, which she claimed was one of the shadiest parts of crypto.

We know that DeFi is building a transparent and open financial system that anyone, anywhere can access, which is why Uniswap founder set the record straight on some misconceptions.

🎧 Our favorite podcasts

We have a double dose of Uncommon Core with Su Zhu and Hasu. Su Zhu is the CEO/ CIO at Three Arrows Capital a crypto-focused hedge fund and Hasu is a leading crypto researcher and educator.

The first podcast is Ethereum vs. Alt L1s. It covers Ethereum scaling, if alternative L1s will out-scale Ethereum and more. If you prefer a summary of this podcast, read these notes.

Our second UCC podcast is a surprise last-minute podcast that came out last night and is with Hasu and Eli-Ben Sasson of Starkware. You HAVE to give this a listen. It is the most approachable and comprehensive audio resource on how STARKs work and how they will scale blockchains in the future.

☎️ Argent update

This week, Argent co-founder Julian Niset presented at the StarkNet community call and explained the importance of ArgentX (which is a developer tool and is in its infancy), the 1st StarkNet wallet, and why it matters. For an overview of this call, check out this summary.
